US singer R. Kelly has been sentenced to 30 year

in prison for abusing children and women.

R. Kelly artist, 55, was found guilty in New York

last September of racketeering and sex trafficking charges.

The judge said on Wednesday that he had shown "indifference to human suffering"

Kelly's lawyers say he will appeal. Robert Sylvester Kelly is the singer's real name.

A few women took the stand before Kelly's sentencing to confront him.

A woman named Angela described the singer as a Pied Piper who "grew in wickedness" with every victim,

while unnamed witnesses stated that he broke their spirits.
